Despite being 25 % of the world’s population and half of adult diseases originating in children, it is shocking that a mere 1 % of healthcare investments are allocated to pediatric companies. This absence of funding and lack of priority has led to a global crisis that is getting worse, not better. We have seen firsthand how early diagnosis, and the right treatments can prevent chronic diseases and save lives, yet the status quo persists and systemic issues fester. Currently, no fund exists with the necessary pediatric science and clinical expertise to know what solutions should actually be funded and have a legitimate chance at succeeding, let alone dedicated to a singular mission of driving healthtech innovations within pediatrics.
